Ready for some mixed media MAGIC today?! I am, and I can't wait to see YOUR version of this grungey, mixed media Steampunk key!! We're doing a little bit of everything today, starting with collage ... As you'll see in today's lesson, I used vintage book pages from a wee, little book I bought at a thrift shop in Scotland. They're brown, ripped, super old, and added the perfect ruggedness to my background. Let's dig in to the rest of the supplies! Supplies11" x 14" canvas panel - https://amzn.to/42wNBIM (way cheaper to buy in bulk) old book pages or any collage paper base Stabilo All Pencil (waaaaay cheaper by the dozen) https://amzn.to/3idMgPN Carbon Transfer paper https://amzn.to/483zpbh Matte Medium https://amzn.to/2BYk1jL Foam Brushes https://amzn.to/2RRGwjT Craft Sponge Circle sponges https://amzn.to/46ISEYt Orange and Yellow Gouache - to be perfectly honest I think regular acrylics would have been a better choice. These were TOO bold and I ended up sort of fighting against it in the end PLUS these are massively expensive so I'm not linking them for you! Use regular acrylics. I do giveaways in the Facebook Group on the 1st of every month :) And it's SO easy to win. All you have to do is take a photo of the lesson you're working on and post it in the Facebook Group with the hashtag #mixedmediasociety. Never done a hashtag before? No problem! All it is, is inserting the pound sign # before the words mixed media society (without any spaces!). You can add it to the beginning of your post or the end. Some people don't even write anything except #mixedmediasociety. If you do it right, the text turns blue like it did for Patricia below! Easy, right? Patricia's qualified to WIN!! And if you do MULTIPLE pieces, take pix of all of them, and post them ALL in the Facebook Group with the hashtag, you guessed it... you've increased your odds of winning!! Look how fun the prizes are!! Gloria won a hoodie in December :) It's seriously so fun!! Here are the winners from our March 1st giveaways :) If you're art-ing along with me on YouTube, or in my books, or are a member of the other clubs- you can post what you're working on there too and use one of the hashtags above to increase your chances even more :) So fun!!

What Fans Are SayingKaren, you are absolutely fabulous! You make me feel like I can draw anything. I have recently retired and finally have the time to do some of the art that I have loved since I was in school. I am really at the beginning of my art journey and I hope to learn as much as I can. Thank you for all you do. |
