I'm absolutely LOVING our Speakeasy Showgirls theme for the Mixed Media Society. I hope you enjoyed the LIVE Speakeasy event where we created this whimsical girl on canvas panel. My friend Mandi and I had SO much fun with you!! Remember, in case you missed this - the replay is available to watch so you can create along with us any time you like. And... if by any chance you want to make the cocktail Sean made for us that night during our Happy Hour LIVE, he and I made a cute video for you with the recipe here (how to make an Old Fashioned, Sean Campbell Style). Just beware, this drink is SUPER STRONG :) You might wanna adjust a couple of ingredients to YOUR taste! Ready for today's NEW lesson? I'm so excited for this one!! I've been wanting to do a triptych FOREVER, and get requests for them often :) The background spraypaint technique used in this project is something I've been doing FOR YEARS because it's super quick and creates magical results! If you don't have three canvases, you could also do this project vertically as an art journal spread across two pages, or on one long, skinny canvas! The possibilities are endless. Just do what's most comfortable for you. Feel free to totally change up supplies if you don't have some of these or if you prefer to try something else. Here's what I used... SuppliesCarbon Transfer Paper https://amzn.to/4aJB87j Feel free to change up the colors as you please and use whatever stencils you have around. My apologies, I do not have any of the original packaging for my stencils so just pick 2 that you love. One in a large pattern and the other one polka dots (or you can use bubble wrap and stamp the paint on!!). I used 3 11"x14" canvases: https://amzn.to/49wiAXj Acrylic Paint Brushes https://amzn.to/2JYhzkW Matte Mod Podge https://amzn.to/4901ErZ Spray Paint in Black, Magenta and Lagoon (or whatever!), White and Silver. You can use ANY spray paint ANY brand as long as the finish is MATTE or SATIN. DO NOT USE GLOSSY SPRAY PAINT!!!! Lukas Cryl paint in Magenta, Cerulian Blue, Black and White from my Whimsical Animals Paint Collection from Jerry's: https://www.jerrysartarama.com/cryl-stu-whim-animl-k-campbell Any Skin tone color acrylic paint (I used Folk Art Matte in Parchment - similar to this: https://amzn.to/3PW48Rk) Black Posca Pen in fine nib https://amzn.to/4cOhA3C Faber-Castell Pitt Pens Light Flesh or Beige Red and Cinnamon from Portrait Set https://amzn.to/3xmkmwI I also sprayed the whole thing at the end with Iridescent Spray Mod Podge just for fun (and because I'd never tried it before!!). I think I like the sparkly-ness of the Sparkle Mod Podge we used in the circle project but hey! It was super fun!! Stencils! These are mine - you can use anything!! 👉Ready to get this party started? What Fans Are SayingKaren, you are absolutely fabulous! You make me feel like I can draw anything. I have recently retired and finally have the time to do some of the art that I have loved since I was in school. I am really at the beginning of my art journey and I hope to learn as much as I can. Thank you for all you do. |
