I'ts lovely to meet you!

I am a New England native, born just east of Boston in the small town of Acton.  I currently live in Apex, North Carolina with my husband Sean, three boys (Jack, Billy & Max), three rescue cats (Zoe, Rosie & Tillie) and our rescue dog, Maggie.  I love escaping to my happy place (my art studio!), getting messy from head to toe in Mod Podge and paint and getting as far away from my laundry pile as possible (what?  I HATE LAUNDRY!).  More than anything I love learning how to become a better artist and sharing in this process with thousands of dear women from around the globe.

Here's the fam at Christmas!
Rosie (below) is a goof and is often featured in my YouTube videos!

Zoe (below) being my model and muse!!!
(clearly there's a lot of that going around!)

Our newest addition...Tillie!!!  She is a LOVE at the least camera shy of all 3 so I have a feeling she will be a regular on YouTube as well!

And then when Covid hit, we welcomed yet ANOTHER FURRY BABY!!! Yep, Maggie arrived! Tail wagging and larger than LIFE!! Love her and she has become the wonderful distraction we were hoping for.

I really love to take complex art concepts, projects and subjects and  break things down into straightforward, easy to digest parts.  Becoming an author has helped me reach more struggling artists across the globe to become the artists they dreamt of becoming!  On Amazon shelves you can find 5 books including the popular, How to Draw Fun Fab Faces series, For the Colorful Teacher (co-author/illustrator and soon-to-be-series), and my latest book, Mixed Media Magic.  Many more are in development.  You can join my Patreon Community to keep tabs on all my video and book behind-the-scenes fun!

I started teaching art to both children and adults (privately as well as big art party bashes) in 2011 and switched to becoming a full time online educator in 2016. I love that I can reach people and spread my passion for fun, learning and art to the far reaches of the globe through video!

My mission in life is to make art accessible, fun and super easy to understand and accomplish for ANYONE!
I also believes in fairies (for obvious reasons). I love fairies so much I even co-host a podcast on Scottish folklore called 1 Scot 1 Not (because you know, raising a family, running an online art school and publishing multiple books a year wasn't keeping me busy enough!). You can learn more about my podcast and whole "other" fun hobby by visiting my website 1scot1not.com.
I'm not a solo operator though. I have the daily support and help of almost a dozen amazing women and women and one very cute boy!!  Huge thanks to my entire team for being my behind-the-scenes workhorse, I could NOT do any of this without you!
Below is my Billy-Bear.  My middle son, personal IT Guy and Video Editor Extraordinaire!!!
All of us strive equally to create amazing content so that YOU can become the artist that others will be jealous of!

What Fans Are Saying

Karen, you are absolutely fabulous! You make me feel like I can draw anything. I have recently retired and finally have the time to do some of the art that I have loved since I was in school. I am really at the beginning of my art journey and I hope to learn as much as I can. Thank you for all you do.

-Jill Y.

I ordered your Fun Fab Faces book and loved it! I was having a little trouble getting the noses I wanted and now it's easy! Also, I love how you stressed how important having the three tones in your drawing is. Thanks a bunch!

-Donna L.

Thank you Karen! I never though I could do faces. You broke it down so it was understandable! And I love your book! I got it yesterday! Can't wait to start practicing! It's so much fun!!!!!

-Debbie M.

Thank you for the encouragement to get back into my drawing and painting. After being away for 35 years.  THANK YOU.
